Redstone’s own Maddy Marchildon has been featured in a Member Spotlight by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) for her involvement within the Canadian meetings industry and as the Executive Director for the Canadian Association of Exposition Management (CAEM).
CAEM’s partnership with IAEE allows CAEM to offer their Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation courses throughout the year. This gives members the opportunity to be recognized with the highest professional standard designation throughout the exhibitions and events management world. These two associations also work together to offer professional development, and to innovate the industry.
IAEE caught up with Maddy to ask more about her work, both personally and professionally, with member-based associations. Check out these simple tips below to be engaged with your association and get the most out of your membership!
Get to Know your Association
Take the time to get to know all the member benefits, programs and services. Be informed of all offerings so you can plan to use them all to better yourself, your business and your involvement within the industry.
Commit & Get Involved
Don’t be shy! Regularly attend networking events, familiarize yourself with board members, join in on the social media action and keep up to date with association news. By increasing your visibility, you are opening yourself up to more opportunities.
Communicate
The association is there to help and support you – reach out and see how they can help with the specific needs of your business. Being surrounded by a variety of other members also provides a diverse range of insights, lessons and experiences that will bring you value.
Promote Yourself
One of the biggest assets of having a membership to an association are the exclusive opportunities within your industry. Show what you are capable of, how your business is working to better the industry, and ultimately, that you are of value.
