Redstone Agency Elevates the REX Awards with Impactful Branding & Promotion

The marketing of an event makes all the difference! Here is how our team of experts elevated the 2023 NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter’s REX Awards.

NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter is the premier association for owners, developers, investors and related professionals in commercial real estate in the GTA. The Chapter was founded in 1977 and has become the premier “meeting place” for a diverse and influential mix of the commercial real estate industry’s top companies and top performers.

To celebrate the accomplishments and gather the community, NAIOP GTA hosts an annual awards gala for the presentation of the awards. The event is highly reviewed and anticipated by the Commercial Real Estate Community. In 2023, the REX Awards Gala was hosted June 15, 2023, at the Toronto Region Board of Trade.

In addition to event planning & onsite execution, Redstone supported the event by developing visual branding, content creation, social media management, email communications, print & digital signage, and video creation.

Visual Branding

As a longstanding client, Redstone took on the planning and visual branding development of NAIOP Greater Toronto’s 2023 REX Awards Gala.

In the past, each installment of the REX Awards had its own theme, however in 2023, the committee decided to solidify the REX Awards brand with a theme featuring the awards themselves. To support this request, Redstone created a visual identity for the awards event that would be appropriate for this year’s event and remain appropriate and relevant for years to come.

The branding aimed to fulfil the following goals:

  • Reflect the prestigious and distinguished nature of the event and its awards.
  • Highlight the location of the event, contextualize the awards and its nominated projects, teams, companies and winners – Toronto.

Three options were presented to the client and in the end, the visual branding for the REX Awards used night-time Toronto-based imagery with low saturation for an elegant feel and to be representative of the evening award ceremony.

All other branding elements were white, black and gold, pulling from the existing logo for a cohesive and sophisticated look that would blend seamlessly with the venue – the Toronto Region Board of Trade.

Marketing Plan & Execution

Following the development and approval of the visual identity, the Redstone marketing team began working on the event’s marketing, working closely with the event team. Redstone adapted the visual elements into various formats and expanded the graphic elements. This included reusing the assets, colours and fonts in various ways for event promotions and onsite graphics and printed assets. 

The venue’s setup and AV capabilities were leveraged to highlight the branding throughout the space. Video screens with dynamic imagery welcomed guests to the site, and video screens rotating through the evening’s sponsors elevated the visual experience of the event over static images.

Consistent branding of all event visuals (promotion, social media, sponsorship, signage, etc.) ensured a clear visual identity for the awards.
